9 Guidelines to Crafting Toe-Tagged Tales
Dive deep into the psychology of female serial killers we feature on InnerKiller.com.
We’re excited to see your creativity come to life! Let’s dive in!
Follow these simple guidelines to ensure you stay on track and create a powerful, gripping Toe-Tagged Tale.
1. Focus on Female Serial Killers
Mass Murderers: Kill multiple people in one event.
Spree Killers: Kill two or more people in a short time span, with little to no break between acts.
Serial Killers: Commit at least three murders over time, with complex psychological motives.
Occasionally, we accept stories about spree killers, but we do not accept any mass murderer stories. We encourage you to explore your character's mental and emotional journey. Use your unique voice and perspective to bring her story to life!
2. Serial Killer Requirements
For a character to qualify as a serial killer in your story:
Feature at least three murders (or one with references to two more).
Focus on what drives the character's actions—explore her mental state, emotions, and motivations.
We can’t wait to see your creativity shine through the layers of your character’s story!
3. Be Mindful of Content
We want your story to be meaningful while treating sensitive topics with care.
Suggestive is ok, but avoid explicit details around:
Animal cruelty
Child abuse
Rape
Try to steer clear of overt political and/or religious themes unless they fit naturally into your plot.
Focus on building emotional tension and psychological depth to create a compelling narrative.
4. Fictional Content Only
All stories must be purely fictional.
Feel free to write fictional confessions or imagined scenarios, but keep them within the realm of fiction.
We’re excited to read your original work!
5. Keep It Logical
While fantasy and sci-fi elements are intriguing, we ask that you keep your story grounded in reality.
Hallucinations or mental distortions are fine if they fit your character’s mindset.
Just ensure the story remains logical and relatable so readers can connect with it.
6. Mental Health Themes
Although mental health plays a key role in our brand, your story’s motivation doesn’t have to focus on it.
Feel free to explore other themes, such as revenge, greed, or personal obsession—whatever best fits your character.
We want you to have complete creative freedom!
7. Word Count
Your story should be between 999 and 9,999 words to keep readers engaged.
This range allows you to develop complex characters and a gripping plot without compromising pacing or flow.
8. Importance of Spellcheck
We understand the effort that goes into your writing, and we want your work to shine truly!
Use tools like Grammarly to catch spelling or grammar mistakes.
Submitting a polished piece ensures your story captures readers' attention right from the start.
9. Be Open to Revisions and Feedback
We value collaboration and believe in enhancing, not changing, your voice.
Our editors provide thoughtful feedback, offering suggestions to refine your story.
Being open to revisions helps your story reach its full potential.
